Doing Things ON PURPOSE!

I’ll start off by telling you, I’m not a New Years Resolution kinda person. I do, however, have several people in my life who strive to achieve goals and I tend to reset my goals regularly. And the New Year seems to be a good time to do that. I am highly motivated by goals (and people I value).

Seeing how I made some huge shifts in my professional life this past year, I have been pondering... where/what is my next step? Where’s my head leading professionally, where is my heart going, what's motivating me? where do they all intertwine? While it’s hard to always have those answers... I have felt very certain about something for the last few years: When I do something, when I make a decision or make a move - Do Things on Purpose!

This idea of doing things on purpose, for me, mean: To not half-ass things, to not do it out of whimsy.

I don’t know about y’all but I feel as if I barely have time to eat sleep and go to the bathroom much less waste my time on things that have little to no meaning or value... so if I’m gonna take time out of my life to do something, it better be done w purpose, meaning, and hopefully a bit of glitter and gusto! I had to take this approach when deciding to change jobs last year. While it was like deciding to end a marriage in a lot of ways for me, and it was also with a lot of pain... I had to make sure to find value or meaning in it or it would have gone to the wayside. Fortunately, or unfortunately,  there was value in it for me and I ultimately left a job and company I LOVE for a new opportunity that I am very much enjoying. But I could only spend my time and efforts here if there was purpose.

Right now, I am teaching Enneagram workshops for companies/groups and at conferences. I've done a few already in the last year or two and it’s been widely well received. It brings my heart joy to know I am able to help people, no matter where I am. And I do all this with purpose! On Purpose! But I also do it with excellence, not just for excellence' sake. But to make sure there is value for others. That my effort isn’t futile.

There’s a saying: 'If you try to be everything to everyone you’ll be nothing to anyone' - similar to 'If you try to do everything, you get nothing done'. I certainly don’t want that to happen. But while I pick and choose what my efforts go to, this is one I’m passionate about and believe in.
